This Cookie Notice explains the cookies and similar technologies we use on our websites, what each one does, and how you can control them. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle your personal information more broadly.
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Some are essential to the service you are using; others, such as analytics cookies, only run if you agree to them. We keep our use of cookies deliberately minimal.
| Name | Provider | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
aqua_id | Aquiva (first-party) | Strictly necessary / functional | Lets our AI assistant (“AQUA”) recognize your browser across visits so it can recall your earlier conversation with you. It is issued by our server and marked HttpOnly, meaning it cannot be read by scripts in your browser. It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. | 1 year |
_ga, _ga_* | Google (Google Analytics) | Analytics — set only with your consent | Help us understand how visitors use the site in aggregate so we can improve it. These are set and managed by Google, and are only present if you choose “Accept” on our cookie banner. | Set and managed by Google |
We also store a small cookie-consentvalue in your browser’s local storage to remember your choice on the cookie banner, so we do not ask you again on every visit. This is set regardless of your choice, because its only purpose is to record that choice.
The aqua_idcookie is strictly necessary for the AQUA assistant to function as intended. Without it, AQUA cannot recognize you between visits and cannot recall a conversation you started earlier. Because it is essential to a service you actively choose to use, and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking, it is set without requiring separate consent. It is a first-party cookie — it is never shared with third parties.
Analytics cookies run only with your consent. When you first visit, analytics are disabled by default. If you choose “Accept” on our cookie banner, we enable Google Analytics to measure site usage. If you choose “Decline,” no analytics cookies are set and we see aggregate page counts only.
You can change your analytics choice at any time using the Cookie Settings link in our site footer, which reopens the consent banner. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though disabling the aqua_id cookie will prevent AQUA from remembering your conversation between visits.
The aqua_id cookie that recognizes your browser lasts 1 year. The conversation data associated with it is retained separately, for up to 2 years, as described in our Privacy Policy. After the cookie expires, your browser is treated as a new visitor.
